here’s the story...
it all started making peppermint bark and giving it to friends and family around the holidays. they loved the bark so much they started asking me to sell them some to give as gifts. this snowballed into a small business called barking dog candy. i started out selling online, to local stores, friends and family.
several years later i opened the bittersweet candy store in poughkeepsie, ny. bittersweet sold barking dog candy, old fashioned candy, artisnal goods and unusual retail items. it was a funky and fun neighborhood store that was loved by all. for many reasons, the bittersweet store closed after three years in business.
never willing to quit i went back to my roots...
now we have moved to schenectady ny and are selling online, wholesale and at local events. there may or may not be a retail store in our future. its something i don't want to force. thankfully, right now i'm keeping quite busy. please check out this site, facebook, instagram and twitter to find out where you can find us. i sell to many local stores and venues, and hope to find more along the way.
the key to making any quality product is to start with quality ingredients. the chocolate company that i use has been around since the 1800’s and is certified fairtrade. every chocolate i make is small batch, one pound at a time. almost all of our packaging is made from recycled, 100% biodegradable materials. these are just a few of the reasons bittersweet candy is good for you and the world.
